BUHARI'S PLAN TO RETAIN ONLY 12 MINISTRIES IN NIGERIA

President Muhammadu Buhari to scrap 12 ministries

New Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly planning to retain just 19 of the country’s 31 ministries.
The reduction is in a bid to reduce the country’s astronomical cost of governance.
Buhari thinks he would not be able to deliver all his campaign promises without having to reduce the weight of the federal ministries and agencies which eats up 70% of the budget.
In the proposed arrangement, some ministries could be merged as follows:
* Ministry of Interior(to include Police Affairs)
* Ministry of Transportation(to include Works, Aviation, Railways, Waterways/Transport)
* Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources etc.
* Ministry of Information, Youth Development and Culture
* Ministry of Trade, Investment and tourism etc.
Some of the Ministries that could be scrapped include the Niger Delta Ministry which could be replaced with the Ministry for Regional Development and the Ministries of Women Affairs and Special Duties could be scrapped as well.
