Urhobo leaders reaffirm support for Igbuya
Key politicians, government officials, industry and
traditional chiefs from the Urhobo nation Wednesday spoke with one
voice, affirming their support for Delta State House of Assembly
Majority Leader, Chief Monday Igbuya.
“The
next speaker must have good knowledge of the legislative environment
and a clear vision of the effects of the law for the larger society.
Igbuya understands the workings of government” the leaders said,
The
leaders who met in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government appraised the
enviable qualities of the lawmaker, describing him as a prudent manager
of human and material resources.
In
a statement signed by the spokesperson of Union of Urhobo Leaders
(UOUL), Dr. Joseph Oki, the leaders showered praises on Igbuya for his
dexterity.
“Igbuya
has credibility and integrity. He has the personality, wisdom,
experience, ability to reach consensus with people of differing
viewpoints and the demeanor for the position. He is dependable and has
all it takes to lead the House to success” the leaders said.
Recalling his days as chairman of Sapele Local Government,
the leaders said the highly cerebral and very urbane politician
demonstrated a keen sense of management of scarce resources for the
benefit of his people.
“Igbuya impacted positively on the lives of the people”
“The
next four years should hold better prospects for law making in Delta
State; prospects of higher degree of harmony between the executive and
the legislature”
They
called on Urhobo sons and daughters at home and abroad to unite and
make persuasive case to those elected outside Delta Central that the
next speaker of the House should be Monday Igbuya.
They also urged the lawmakers to support a tested, trusted and God fearing person as speaker.
“We
look forward to a house that will be very vibrant. We look forward to a
house that will maintain harmonious relationship with the executive. It
is our prayer that God in his wisdom will give us a man like Igbuya as
speaker”
